Receiver-in-canal (RIC) Hearing Aids

Sleek and light

The shell of receiver-in-canal hearing aids sits behind the ear, like behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids. However, RICs are smaller and even more discreet. They have a tiny wire that connects the shell to the hearing aid receiver, which is housed in a dome or custom ear mold in the ear. This creates a natural listening experience and better sound control than a BTE. Almost all levels of hearing loss can be treated with a receiver-in-canal hearing aid.

Discreet

Small and subtle

Since the RIC’s case doesn’t need to house the speaker, it’s typically slimmer and smaller than most BTE models. RIC styles also boast a thin, electrical wire instead of an ear hook or tubing, which makes them barely visible to others when combined with a small, translucent ear dome.

Natural sound

Hear as you should

Sounds tend to be clearer and more intact with RIC hearing aids, as the speaker rests closer to the ear canal. And distancing the speaker from the microphone minimizes another common complaint: hearing aid feedback.

Amplification

Option for all

Receiver-in-canal hearing aids substantially magnify sounds in both the high-frequency and low-frequency ranges, making them a great option for almost all levels and types of hearing loss.
