Thanks to the Miracle-Ear Foundation and the Miracle-Ear of Statesville, NC, 89-year-old Charlie Lawthorpe has recently received the Gift of Sound™.
He had been missing out on important parts of his life for many years, including connecting with his son and participating at church. “Faith comes by hearing the word of God. If you cannot hear you cannot strengthen your Faith,” Charlie said before he received his new hearing aids.
Luckily, Charlie will no longer have to worry about hearing at church or anywhere else. “This is his first set of hearing aids,” said Heather Burleson, Charlie’s Hearing Instrument Specialist. “He went to Bible study last night and he finally feels confident to talk and contribute to the group because now he knows what is going on and before he didn't. He used to go but was never really getting anything out of it. He is also doing well with phone, tv and his son’s voice.”
Local Miracle-Ear business owners Dave and Dan Whipkey have made a commitment to support the Miracle-Ear Foundation, a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization. Established in 1990, the Miracle-Ear Foundation was created to enhance the life experiences of families and individuals of limited means through the Gift of Sound. To date, the Miracle-Ear Foundation working with Miracle-Ear centers across the country has donated more than 16,000 hearing aids to over 9,000 individuals nationwide.
“What a delight it is to be able to give back to the community and be able to serve those that cannot afford hearing help on their own. There truly is nothing like being able to give the Gift of Sound!” said Heather. Charlie is very happy and satisfied with his new hearing aids. When he left the office he said, “This is a true miracle! Thank you for helping me hear again!”
