Professional Experience

I joined the Miracle-Ear team in July 2019, but have been specializing in hearing health and hearing instruments since 2013. I have had many different roles in all avenues pertaining to hearing health – from Hearing Aid Technology Trainer, to sponsor of many apprentices who wish to join the field of hearing health.

Favorite Part of Working with Miracle-Ear

I have spent time with many different companies in the hearing health field, and can say, without a doubt, that Miracle-Ear is the only company who actually puts the patient first. Helen Keller once said: "Blindness separates you from things, but deafness separates you from people." Miracle-Ear not only meets the challenges associated with hearing loss, but exceeds them through the individualized care given to each patient.

Karen Guseman

Professional Experience

I joined the Miracle-Ear team in May 2018, and bring with me over 25 years of experience working with those in need. Prior to my current position, I assisted disabled adults in a group-home environment, operated as a Front Office Receptionist for the Exceptional Children’s Program in the Johnston County Public School System, and served as an Intake Specialist with the Johnston County Department of Social Services.

Credentials

I attended Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC and studied Early Childhood Education.

Favorite Part of Working with Miracle-Ear

I enjoy working with the patients at Miracle-Ear – witnessing, first-hand, their journey to better hearing. Being a part of the Miracle-Ear team makes me proud because of the excellent customer service our patients receive each time they come in for an appointment.

Hearing loss

Hearing loss can happen to anyone. Today, more than 48 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss. There are three types of hearing loss: sensorineural, conductive and mixed hearing loss. While many elements can contribute to hearing loss, age and exposure to loud noise are the two most common. Signs of hearing loss include turning the TV volume up, difficulty hearing on the phone or asking people to repeat themselves. Luckily, hearing aids are a great treatment option for many.

Tinnitus

Do you hear buzzing, humming or ringing in the ears? You’re not alone. Nearly 10 to 15 percent of American adults have tinnitus. While most people experience moments or brief periods of hearing ringing in the ears at some time in their lives, some people experience tinnitus more regularly. Tinnitus is not a condition itself, but rather a symptom of another condition. 90 percent of people with tinnitus also have noise-induced hearing loss. The good news? Hearing aids can help.

Hearing aid repairs

Hearing aids are amazing devices—except when they’re not working properly. Just like other pieces of technology, they can sometimes experience technical issues. Luckily, our 3-year warranty* covers most hearing aid repairs. Repairs may be needed if troubleshooting your device hasn’t worked or your hearing aid has been physically damaged. The issue could be caused by one of a few things, including the internal tubing, microphone or case.

Hearing aid aftercare

At Miracle-Ear, we know that if we, together, take care of your hearing aid, it will take care of you. It's essential that your device functions properly and allows you to live life to the fullest. That's why we offer free lifetime service and hearing aid aftercare*. This includes clean and checks, adjustments, repairs and annual hearing tests.

*Miracle-Ear® lifetime aftercare not included with hearing aids purchased utilizing some insurance benefits.

Custom-fit

Our custom-fit hearing aids are molded to fit each person’s unique ear shape. Your hearing instrument specialist will take a mold of your ear while you're in the office. This is quick and painless! It will then get sent to the manufacturer, where your hearing aid will be created just for you. Custom-fit hearing aids are extremely comfortable, discreet and provide very natural sound quality.

Foundation

The Miracle-Ear Foundation provides hearing health care to children and adults with limited income and no other resources for hearing aids. We're proud that our hearing center participates in this amazing program, providing free hearing aids to those in need and continuing to support them through their hearing journey.
