Factors to consider when comparing hearing aids

Choosing the right hearing aid style and model depends on several important factors:

  • Level of hearing loss: This will help you figure out whether you need a more powerful BTE or ITE style, or if you can go for a smaller style like an IIC or CIC hearing aid.
  • Cosmetic preferences: Do you want your hearing aids to be as discreet as possible, or would you rather trade size for more features and longer battery life? When paired with your level of hearing loss, cosmetic preferences can help guide you toward the right hearing aid style.
  • Lifestyle: Consider which advanced features might enhance your lifestyle. Are you in tune with the latest technology or looking for an easy-to-use device? Do you like going out to eat and want to easily converse in noisy restaurants? Do you enjoy sports or being active outdoors? How you spend your days and your free time can help start a conversation with your Hearing Care Professional (HCP). These Miracle-Ear experts will do the work to match your lifestyle with the best hearing aid for you.
  • Budget: Not all hearing aids cost the same amount. Your budget can help determine what styles and features you can afford.

The great news? You’re not on your own when considering your options. When you visit a Miracle-Ear location, an HCP will talk through your options and help guide you toward the best hearing solution for your needs.

Hearing aid features explained

Modern hearing aids offer a plethora of different features and advanced technology offerings. Browse through our list and talk with your local Miracle-Ear expert to help you narrow down which hearing aid features fit your hearing needs and lifestyle.

Bluetooth® is a radio-wave technology designed to communicate over short distances. Bluetooth connectivity in your hearing aids allows you to connect your hearing aids directly to other Bluetooth-enabled technologies, like your smartphone or TV.

Fueled by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, rechargeable hearing aids can be charged when not in use. No need to worry about swapping or running out of batteries.

Hearing aids with AI-enhanced adaptive listening and processing enables your hearing devices to gather data about your sound environments. That information is then used to make automatic adjustments to your device settings, with the goal of giving you the optimal listening experience in all sound environments. AI capabilities can also make adjustments in environments like a car. This technology detects when conversation partners are to the side, behind or in front of you, automatically focusing on the speaker’s voice, no matter their position.

Many modern hearing aids connect to an app, such as the Miracle-Ear App, which allows you to control certain aspects of your hearing aid through your smartphone. Our app lets you do things like adjust the volume or switch between personal hearing programs, and gives you access to additional tools, like a “find my hearing aid” feature.

Directional microphones in hearing aids automatically detect and focus on a speaker near you, processing the signal to emphasize speech. It does this while minimizing surrounding background noise for a clearer listening experience. This helps wearers hear better in noisy environments by improving the ability to hear your companion’s voice over noise.

Digital noise reduction automatically minimizes background noise and brings the sounds you want to hear, like your partner’s voice, to the foreground.

Speech isolation focuses resources on the frequencies where human speech usually occurs. This allows your hearing aid to more clearly amplify the conversation.

Echo reduction is a technology designed to reduce echo in reverberant settings, like a church or museum.

Wind noise reduction technology reduces wind noise when you’re outdoors, ensuring sounds like speech and ambient noises are amplified without distortion. While doing this, it also aids in spatial perception. That way, you have an even better idea of where sound is coming from.

Tinnitus control in hearing aids are built-in sound therapy features designed to help reduce the perception of ringing or buzzing in the ears. This feature generates sounds that blend with the tinnitus and make it less noticeable, with the aim to provide tinnitus relief.

A Telecoil (or T-Coil) is a component within the hearing aid that allows the user to utilize various assistive listening systems (ALS). ALSs are used in spaces such as movie theaters and even on landline phones to stream sound directly to your hearing aids.

MECROS and BiCROS are hearing solutions for individuals with unilateral hearing loss. When you have untreatable hearing loss in one ear, CROS and BiCROS technologies are often available in RIC and BTE models to help transmit sound to your better hearing ear.

Remote control connectivity means that your hearing aid can be adjusted with a dedicated hearing aid remote control, which connects directly to your device and has easy-to-use physical buttons. You can also use the Miracle-Ear App as a remote via your smartphone to easily and discreetly adjust volume, settings and programs.

Hearing programs are different settings that are specially fitted to your hearing needs in different environments—such as a restaurant program or outdoor program. You can cycle through your hearing programs to match your hearing needs in various situations.

**The claim of "Our best tested product" is based on internal testing conducted by Amplifon comparing the performance of this hearing aid in enhancing speech in background noise against other products in our current lineup. The test evaluated speech intelligibility and quality under controlled conditions. Individual results may vary based on personal hearing needs, fit, and usage.
