History of Innovation
"Miracle-Ear" first started as a hearing aid manufactured by Dahlberg Electronics, an electronics company founded by Kenneth Dahlberg in 1948.
Soon after, Dahlberg Electronics began producing hearing aids with the brand-new transistor technology and released an all-transistor model in 1953. Just two years later, the first "in-the-ear" hearing aid was introduced. Far different from the current ITE models, the D-10 Magic Ear concealed all electronic components into an ear mold shell.
Dahlberg can also take credit for introducing the D-14 "Solar Ear" eyeglasses hearing aid, which utilized a solar cell for power.
Integrated circuitry and an ultra-low circuit technology were pioneered by Dahlberg Electronics in the 1960s and 70s. And in 1988, the company debuted the first-ever programmable hearing aid on the market, Miracle-Ear Dolphin. By 1997, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved claims that the Miracle-Ear devices improved hearing in the presence of background noise.
By 1998 Miracle-Ear introduced proprietary technology that enabled the hearing aid to be customized by the wearer. And in 2003 the company's entire line of hearing aids moved to digital technology.
In the more recent years, Miracle-Ear brought out the innovative Open Fit or Over the Ear design as well as the Miracle-Ear Mirage, a nearly invisible hearing aid that fits completely in the ear canal.
By 2013, Miracle-Ear launched a new technology platform that learned the wearer’s preferences to deliver proper amplification levels, while preserving natural acoustics. The movement to easier listening continued with the development of GENIUS™ and GENIUS™ 2.0 technology that boasts digital noise reduction, directionality and amplification, the proprietary Speech Isolation for the most natural sounds yet.
In 2018, Miracle-Ear introduced the most impressive technology yet: GENIUS™ 3.0 These hearing solutions feature the most natural sound available, direct binaural streaming and rechargeability. 2018 also marks the 70th anniversary of helping people hear their best.
