Gwendolyn Sweezey

Professional Experience

Gwendolyn is Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences and has been licensed as a Hearing Aid Specialist by the Illinois Licensing Board within the Illinois Department of Health. She has also been through extensive training with Miracle-Ear and has received her Miracle-Ear Professional Certification. In addition, she has been trained in Live Speech Mapping, Real Ear Measurement, Deep Canal Impressions, and is proficient with all Audiometric equipment to service your needs.
Gwendolyn obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and her master's degree from the University of Akron. She is an animal lover and has three rescue cats. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing. Gwendolyn is passionate about helping people hear better and is committed to delivering high-quality customer care.

While many elements can contribute to hearing loss, age and exposure to loud noise are the two most common. Signs of hearing loss include turning the TV volume up, difficulty hearing on the phone or asking people to repeat themselves. Luckily, hearing aids are a great treatment option for many.

Do you hear buzzing, humming or ringing in the ears? You’re not alone. Nearly 10 to 15 percent of American adults have tinnitus. While most people experience moments or brief periods of hearing ringing in the ears at some time in their lives, some people experience tinnitus more regularly. Tinnitus is not a condition itself, but rather a symptom of another condition. 90 percent of people with tinnitus also have noise-induced hearing loss. The good news? Hearing aids can help.

Hearing aids are amazing devices—except when they’re not working properly. Just like other pieces of technology, they can sometimes experience technical issues. The issue could be caused by one of a few things, including the internal tubing, microphone or case.

At Miracle-Ear, we know that if we, together, take care of your hearing aid, it will take care of you. It's essential that your device functions properly and allows you to live life to the fullest. That's why we offer free lifetime service and hearing aid aftercare*. This includes clean and checks, adjustments, repairs and annual hearing tests.

Custom-fit

Our custom-fit hearing aids are molded to fit each person’s unique ear shape. Your hearing instrument specialist will take a mold of your ear while you're in the office. This is quick and painless! It will then get sent to the manufacturer, where your hearing aid will be created just for you. Custom-fit hearing aids are extremely comfortable, discreet and provide very natural sound quality.

Foundation

The Miracle-Ear Foundation provides hearing health care to children and adults with limited income and no other resources for hearing aids. We're proud that our hearing center participates in this amazing program, providing free hearing aids to those in need and continuing to support them through their hearing journey.
