Frequently asked questions

Miracle-Ear provides a free, comprehensive hearing exam* that assesses your hearing loss level. It includes:

  • Your hearing health history: Your appointment starts with a conversation about your hearing history, lifestyle, and any concerns you may have.
  • Ear canal inspection: Then, your hearing care professional will look inside your ear canal using a video otoscope. This is to check for common problems such as excessive wax buildup, damage to the eardrum or other conditions which may make it difficult to hear clearly.
  • Hearing threshold test: This test determines the softest sounds you can hear at different frequencies. It determines your degree of hearing loss, known as your hearing threshold.
  • Speech discrimination test: This test measures your ability to hear and understand speech in different noise environments.

Your hearing care professional will combine your test results with information you share about your lifestyle to recommend the hearing solution that's best for you.

Typically, our free, comprehensive hearing tests take 60-90 minutes. During your appointment, your hearing care professional will perform a series of test to understand your hearing levels. Then, based on your results, they'll walk you through the hearing solutions that could work best for you.

Bringing a loved one or caregiver can make your appointment easier and more comfortable. They will help during the familiar voice test portion of your exam and can provide additional support by reviewing the service terms with you and assisting with transportation, if needed.

Prices vary based on several factors, including your hearing needs, technology level, device style, and features. During yourr free hearing evaluation at your local Miracle-Ear store, your provider will recommend the best solution for your specific needs and review the pricing and payment options with you.

Most purchases include free unlimited care and support*, so you're investing in ongoing sevice and care, not just the devices themselves.

Insurance coverage may vary by location. During your free hearing evaluation, your hearing care professional will review your insurance and payment options. We also recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your coverage.
